We at Pediatrics of Arlington continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation closely and discuss the situation on a daily basis. Due to the widespread nature of the current coronavirus outbreak, at this time we are cancelling walk-in hours for the next two weeks, effective 3/16/20-3/27/20. We are following Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and Virginia Department of Health (VDH) guidelines for risk assessment of potential patients.
If your child is experiencing flu-like illness (high fevers, dry cough, trouble breathing) AND has had recent travel (within the past 30 days) to a level II or III country (China, South Korea, Italy, Iran, Japan, UK, and Ireland) OR been exposed to a person with confirmed COVID-19 infection, out of respect to other patients and visitors to the office, we ask that you remain home if your symptoms are mild. If your child seems to be having a true medical emergency, please take him/her to the nearest ER (VHC, Inova Fairfax, Children’s National Medical Center) for evaluation for possible COVID-19 infection. Unfortunately, here at Pediatrics of Arlington, we are unable to perform testing for COVID-19.
If you are unsure how to proceed, you may call our triage help line at (703)-522-7300.
As the COVID-19 outbreak continues to unfold, we prioritize your health and wellness as a priority and understand any concerns that you may have about bringing your healthy child to the clinic for a well visit. We prioritize your safety as our top concern and have implemented a COVID-19 risk assessment algorithm to ensure that those who potentially have been exposed are not coming into our office. At this time, our schedulers are working to reschedule all well visits to the morning hours only, and all sick and same day visits for afternoons only in an effort to mitigate the risk of infectious exposures.
